Background

During 1994 two of the founders of the Sirius Foundation adopted a little girl from Nepal who was in social and economic danger within a family who, despite their best efforts, were unable to provide the basic social, economic and welfare environment due to extreme economic hardship

Having gone through the adoption process it was clear that this was just the tip of the iceberg of the economic and social deprivation in Nepal which is also characteristic of Third World countries

Therefore the Sirius Foundation was set up to support projects that would enable the basic social, educational and environmental welfare necessities to be provided.

The Sirius Foundation is working closely with local Non-Government Organisations who are best placed to maximise effectiveness of foreign support from the United Kingdom
